House dust mites Universally, dust mites are minute co-inhabitants in almost every household. These mites (Dermatophagoides farinae and D. pteronyssinus) are prevalent in house dust, but cannot be seen with the naked eye since they are only 0.1-0.15 mm in size. Dust mites are present in almost all furnishings, cushions, mattresses, upholstery, carpets, soft toys and in accumulated dust.

Mites and Dust Allergy
Mites are the major cause for dust allergy. Mites live on molds, dead skin, animal & plant fibers, crumbs and pollen. Their excreta contain allergy proteins which cause extreme reactions in hypersensitive people. These reactions range from itchy and watery eyes, sneezing, running nose, cough & bronchial asthma to childhood eczema.

Tackling Dust Allergy
The best method of preventing house dust allergy is by controlling the mite population. Several formulations are commercially available for the control of dust mites. However, these formulations contain synthetic chemicals as the active ingredients, and thus have to be used with caution in households with children or pets.

CheckMite is Effective
CheckMite has been shown to be effective in controlling dust mite population levels, in lab trials and in controlled carpet studies. The above graph shows the reduction in the dust mite population after treatment with CheckMite.

CheckMite kills adult mites and controls the build up of mite population. CheckMite interferes with the food chain of mites by eliminating the fungus in the dust. Periodic use of CheckMite reduces the allergen level in the dust.

The constituents of CheckMite* are of plant origin and environmentally safe. CheckMite contains as its active ingredient, an acaricide of plant origin. It also contains an acaricide synergist and disinfectant of plant origin, a food grade fungicide and a dispersing agent.

CheckMite* is Safe
Toxicological studies done in an accredited laboratory show that CheckMite* is very safe (Acute oral LD50 of 7420 mg/kg body weight & acute dermal LD50 > 2000 mg/kg body weight). There was no sign of toxicity in the treated animals and the mucous membrane irritation potential in rabbits was negligible.
